About Us

Help today because tomorrow you may be the one who needs more helping!

Background

Labour Rights Organization (LARO) was established in 2011 and is duly registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act of Malawi. LARO was founded in response to the growing need for advocacy, education, and protection of human and labour rights in Malawi. The organization works with employers, employees, government, and civil society to promote social justice, fair labour practices, and sustainable development. Over the years, LARO has become a leading voice in the fight for decent work, safe workplaces, and the elimination of all forms of exploitation and discrimination in the labour sector.

Objectives

  • Promote and protect human and labour rights for all workers in Malawi.
  • Build the capacity of employers and employees through training, workshops, and awareness campaigns.

  • Provide legal support and consultancy services to individuals and organizations on labour-related issues.
  • Conduct research and influence policy on matters affecting the world of work.
  • Foster social dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders in the labour sector.
  • Eliminate child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking through targeted interventions and community outreach.
